Absolutely No Hair has operated since 2002, when founder Marta Irene opened the first Connecticut studio. The practice now has two studios, both by appointment only, and the same master electrologist leads each one.
Every new client can start with a free consultation, either a 20-minute phone or Zoom call or a 30-minute in-person visit at a studio. The in-person visit covers a look at the treatment area, a review of the client's history, a microscopic hair analysis, a skin sensitivity check, a custom timeline and a test patch.
Before a session, hair should be at least about an eighth of an inch long, and clients are asked to avoid caffeine for two hours beforehand. Afterward, sun exposure, hot baths and heavy exercise are to be avoided for a day, and a soothing gel is provided after each session.
Electrolysis is offered for face and body areas such as the chin, lip, underarms and bikini line, in session lengths from 5 minutes ($30) to one hour ($95). The practice also offers 45-minute health coaching sessions ($40) and maintenance plans, which are custom priced and built around follow-up sessions timed to hair growth cycles.
The Berlin studio is housed inside Studio 10 at 10 Steele Blvd, and offers a private single-suite treatment room and free on-site parking. The Shelton studio at 500 Howe Ave has a private suite, with parking adjacent to the building.
Each hair follicle is treated individually, without relying on hair pigment, and a single-use sterile filament probe is used alongside each hair. Repeat sessions are needed because only hairs in their active growth phase respond to treatment.
Studios are described as private, warm retreats rather than clinical or rushed spaces.
