A'Maries Skin Bar was started in 2017 by A'Marie, a licensed esthetician who began the business on a budget of $400. The spa is located in a suite in Southfield and operates by appointment only. Treatments take place in private rooms with soothing jazz playing, and children and guests who are not receiving services are not permitted in the lobby or treatment rooms.

Every treatment is tailored to the individual client. Each facial includes a skin analysis, and clients complete an intake form before service. Virtual and in-person skincare consultations are offered before a facial is booked. The Everyday Glow Facial is a 90-minute customized facial that can include LED light, oxygen infusion, hydration, extractions or high frequency, and the Total Glow Reset is an hour-long treatment that combines hydrodermabrasion, oxygen, LED light and lifting techniques. A shorter back treatment called the Bare Back Glow addresses texture, blemishes and dryness, and a cheek-focused facial called the Peach Smoothie includes a cleanse, enzyme peel, custom mask and moisture infusion.

The men's menu includes a customized men's facial of 90 minutes, a 50-minute back detox facial aimed at breakouts, blackheads and uneven texture, and a range of add-ons such as hand and arm massage, lower leg and foot massage with hot towels, LED light and extractions. The first booking of the Gentlemen's Everyday Facial includes a complimentary 7-day skincare kit.

Signature chemical peels are offered as a series of two to four treatments. A 30-minute Chemical Peel Prep Facial is booked five to seven days before a peel. Brightening peels are offered for the underarms and inner thigh, and a brightening vajacial peel is best scheduled three to ten days after waxing.

Waxing covers the face, upper body, lower body, full body and intimate areas for women and men, from fingers and toes up to a full Brazilian. Face waxes can be combined with a hyperpigmentation or ingrown hair treatment. Hair should be about a quarter inch long before a wax, and clients who shave or use Nair should wait two to three weeks. Exfoliation should be avoided for 48 hours beforehand, and sessions are generally spaced four to six weeks apart. First-time waxing clients receive aftercare instructions, and hot baths, swimming, the gym and exercise should be avoided for 24 hours afterward.

Deposits of 50% are required at booking for all facials and for select waxing and vajacial services. Appointments can be cancelled or rescheduled without penalty with 48 hours' notice. Later changes carry a fee of 50% of the service cost, and same-day changes carry 100%. Services are final sale, and deposits, packages and gift cards are not refundable. Rebooking before leaving a Everyday Glow or Gentlemen's Everyday Facial brings $50 off the next visit.

PFB Vanish Ultra and Signature Kitty Oil are recommended for aftercare. Packages lasting a full year and gift cards are available.

Training is offered one-on-one for licensed estheticians, licensed cosmetologists and beauty school students. Options include advanced one-day and two-day Brazilian wax courses and a one-day facial course, with or without a wax kit depending on the option chosen.

Every treatment is customized to the client, with a skin analysis and intake before facials and consultations offered beforehand.
