Vonetta Dumas Jennings

Vonetta Dumas Jennings founded Signature Image Salon in 2011. Her work spans cosmetology instruction, master-level hair styling and image management, and she has been in the beauty field for nearly three decades. She is especially known for healthy hair care, cutting and coloring, and her clients have included students, professionals, diplomats, executives and celebrities. Her image consulting covers personalized color analysis and wardrobe guidance. She has appeared as a beauty and makeover expert on television, in magazines and in other media, including Great Day Washington, Fox News and WHUR Radio. She has run workshops for DC government-funded youth programs, the BET Foundation, the Jack and Jill of America Foundation and N Street Village. She is the author of Executive Etiquette Power, and she is working to launch a non-profit that uses etiquette training to empower women and families. She sits on the DC Board of Barber and Cosmetology, where she has chaired the Annual Practitioner Forum and served as its master of ceremonies. Earlier, she was president of the DC Federation of Democratic Women, where she backed a pilot program to set up a campaign school. She has also served as an elected Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner and sits on the U Street Main Street Neighborhood Strategy Council alongside District Bridges. She received the 2023 Leadership and Service Award from the DC Federation of Democratic Women and the 2023 Washington Women of Excellence Award for Impact in Women Empowerment. Her education includes an Associate's degree in Applied Business from the University of Cincinnati and a Bachelor's degree in Speech Communication from Northern Kentucky University.
