Umar AL-Duha

Umar AL-Duha owns Beauty By Umar and works as a professional stylist and lead stylist, handling the salon's detangling services. He has over 20 years of beauty industry experience.

His training began at Elegance International Academy in Los Angeles, California, where he studied on scholarship in 1999, and he earned a make-up certification there in 2000. He also trained with Sensia Japanese Studio, with an apprenticeship covering French cutting and razor techniques, basic color application, styling and Japanese thermal straightening. He holds a cosmetology license from the state of Texas, obtained in 2002.

He worked as a makeup artist at Jose Eber toward the end of 2002, then from 2004 to 2013 at Fantastic Sams, Hot Tops Hair Salon, and Thairapy Salon and Spa. In 2018 he joined Keratin Complex as an educator and brand ambassador, teaching hands-on classes on five smoothing treatments.

His cuts combine sheers, razors and clippers with a range of cutting techniques. Every cut starts with a complimentary consultation about lifestyle, hair texture, hair challenges and how clients style at home. For detangling, clients are asked to text photos and consult before booking, and he works with a trained assistant on occasion. Client reviews describe him as taking time with each person and working on hair with care.
