Tony Barbuto

Tony Barbuto is a hairstylist and colorist with over 20 years of experience, working at Ginger Rubio Salon in the Mission District. His focus is balayage, highlights, lowlights and gray coverage, along with color correction and fashion colors such as soft pastels. He also offers precision cuts and barber-style cuts with fades, tapers and classic styles, and welcomes women, men and gender-diverse clients.

He trained in barbering and cosmetology in Utah, where the two were under one license. He holds a California cosmetology license, which he chose over a barbering license because the barbering license allows fewer services.

He assesses how a client's hair behaves day to day, including air-drying and heat-styling, before cutting, and does a thorough consultation before recommending color for a client's skin tone. Clients receive personalized at-home product recommendations during their appointment.
