About

Dr. Steven M. Daines, MD, FACS, is a double board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon who has practiced in Newport Beach since 2012. He holds medical staff appointments at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach and Irvine, and at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills. He belongs to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He trained under Edwin F. Williams III at The Williams Center, Albany Medical Center. Most of his surgical practice is facial rejuvenation. Deep plane facelifts and the Signature Facelift account for much of his operating time, and he has spent over ten years developing and refining the Signature Facelift. He also performs full face rejuvenation, combining a deep plane facelift with other procedures selected for each patient in a single session. In the deep plane technique, he restricts skin undermining and keeps the skin attached to the muscle. Fat grafting is part of most facelifts and every lower blepharoplasty, and he uses nanofat grafting to enhance skin quality and texture. Most lower blepharoplasties are done through a scarless transconjunctival approach. For endoscopic brow lifts, he relies on tactile feel rather than camera guidance. His patients are men and women in their 40s to 70s. He has more than 12 years of experience with CO2 laser resurfacing. He owns two fractional CO2 laser systems, one in the office and one at a surgical center. He also offers nonsurgical options including BOTOX Cosmetic, dermal fillers and chemical peels, and spends additional time in consultations learning each patient's concerns. Newsweek listed him among America's Best Plastic Surgeons for facelift and rhinoplasty in 2021. He was named an Orange County Medical Association Physician of Excellence for 2017 to 2026, an Orange County Top Doctor for ten consecutive years, and an Orange Coast Magazine Top Doctor in 2023. He has performed more than 5,000 reconstructive facial procedures in the first decade of his practice. He was featured in Time magazine in 2015. Reuters Health has cited him as an expert medical commentator. He has published in JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery, including a 2013 study on complications from injectable soft tissue fillers, and has been a peer reviewer for the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery since 2010.
