Stephen L. Smith

Stephen L. Smith, DPM, FACFAS, is a podiatric foot and ankle surgeon at Central Texas Foot + Ankle, with board certification in foot and ankle reconstruction. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio, cum laude, and a DPM from Midwestern University's Arizona School of Podiatric Medicine. During podiatric medical school he wrote foot and ankle research that has won awards.

He completed a podiatric residency with a credential in reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery at UT Health San Antonio/University Hospital and the Audie L. Murphy VA Medical Center, followed by the San Antonio Sports Medicine Associates Foot & Ankle Surgical Fellowship. Earlier, he co-founded a standalone orthopedic and rehabilitation clinic in southern Iraq. Following that deployment, he worked as an emergency department nurse and anesthesia technician before moving into podiatric surgery.
