Shawn McDonald

Shawn McDonald owns The Skin Den and works as its esthetician. She has been a licensed esthetician in California since 1986 and has worked in skincare for nearly four decades.

She trained in dermaplaning and The MicroPeel with Christina Carlino, cofounder of Biomedic. Early in her career, in the early 1990s, she worked with a team of plastic surgeons at Aesthetica Surgical Center in Los Angeles, and performed dermaplaning and chemical peels at the practice of Dr. John Williams, whose practice was among the first to offer dermaplaning. She later worked with plastic surgeons in private practice in La Jolla, Marina del Rey and Beverly Hills, and taught skin theory, peel application and dermaplaning as an educator for a medical skincare company.

She spent ten years working for a dermatologist in Carmel Valley before opening The Skin Den. Her specialties are dermaplaning and chemical peels. She treats both women and men.
