About
Sarah Mess is a plastic surgeon who owns her practice and leads the medical staff at its onsite surgery center. She completed a six-year integrated plastic surgery residency at Georgetown University Hospital in 2005. Before medical school she earned a biology bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania, magna cum laude, in 1994, and she received her medical degree from the University of Maryland Medical School, summa cum laude, in 1999. She is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, a certification dating to 2007, and holds active medical licenses in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. Her practice centers on facial rejuvenation, breast surgery, body contouring and injectables. Facial work includes deep plane facelifts, fat transfer and ultrasound-guided injection techniques, and she also performs brow lifts for patients in the Washington and Baltimore area. Her vaginal health services include diVa, diVaTyte, EMSella and labiaplasty. She is a BOTOX specialist and a vaginal laser specialist in Baltimore and Columbia, and she is one of few plastic surgeons offering DualSculpting. Since 2024 she has been an instructor of aesthetic surgery at Georgetown University Hospital, and she is listed as faculty at Johns Hopkins and Georgetown. She served as section chief of plastic surgery at Howard County General Hospital from 2015 to 2016 and at Montgomery General Hospital from 2006 to 2008. She is a contributing editor for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal and has reviewed manuscripts for Aesthetic Surgery Journal since 2016. She has authored or co-authored more than 25 peer-reviewed publications covering fat transfer, safety in aesthetic surgery and AI in healthcare documentation, and has presented at Plastic Surgery The Meeting and an ASPS meeting. She has been an Allergan consultant and speakers bureau member since 2017 and has been on the faculty of the Allergan Medical Institute in Maryland since 2019. She holds membership in three professional societies focused on plastic and aesthetic surgery: ASPS, ASAPS and ISAPS. She plans each surgical case around the patient's goals, aiming for natural-looking results and putting safety first. With injectables, the goal is subtle change that looks natural. Skin care is tailored to each patient's skin, and prospective patients can set up a consultation to review skin care and aesthetic choices. She speaks English and Spanish and sees patients from Howard, Baltimore and Anne Arundel counties and the greater Washington, DC area.
