About
Sara Bowes is a licensed acupuncturist and board-certified Chinese herbalist at M'illumino Natural Medicine, where she has practiced for more than 14 years in Southeast Portland. She received a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine from the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, finishing with highest honors and winning the best masters thesis award. From 2019 to 2021 she completed the Graduate Mentorship Program in Classical Chinese Medicine with Sharon Weizenbaum at the White Pine Institute.
Earlier training includes Hakomi comprehensive training at M.E.T.A. / Hakomi Institute of Portland from 2015 to 2019, and a residential course in healing with whole foods taught by Paul Pitchford at Heartwood Institute in 2007. She also completed an advanced classical acupuncture mentorship with Ann Cecil-Sterman. Her other study covers mindfulness-based somatic therapy, interpersonal neurobiology, whole foods nutrition, female hormones, cosmetic acupuncture and microneedling, and she is a medical microneedling provider.
Digestive complaints, menstrual and hormonal concerns in women, and pain are the areas she most enjoys treating. She works closely with women going through perimenopause and menopause.
