Saima Shaheen

Saima Shaheen founded Suraya Beauty Lounge and works as a master esthetician and educator, with 20 years of experience as a master esthetician and 12 years as a spa director. Her path into skincare started in journalism, where she wrote for a daily newspaper; she holds a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Public Relations. A practical skills course taken during a college summer first drew her to esthetics. She trained in esthetics at the French Academy for Beauty Arts & Techniques in Amman, Jordan, and holds licenses as a permanent makeup artist and as a master esthetician instructor. Her certifications cover a wide range of treatments, including facials, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, chemical peels, brow contouring, hair removal, manual lymphatic drainage, cupping, reflexology and skin fitness. During the COVID-19 pandemic she also became a certified Infection Preventionist. Her main focus is microblading and microshading, and she designs individualized plans built on evidence-based treatments for women of all ages, skin types and concerns. She is an executive contributor for Brainz Magazine, writing on skincare, beauty, wellness and the aesthetics industry. She received the 2026 CREA Global Award from Brainz Magazine and the 2026 DMV Community Commitment Award at the DMV Community Awards and Fashion Show Gala.
