Safiya Johnson

Safiya Johnson owns SJ | House of Hair and works as its master stylist. She began her career in the hair and beauty industry in 2012, after working as a personal trainer and as a professional athlete.

She is a graduate of Paul Mitchell Columbia and an alumna of the University of South Carolina, and has trained on both the East Coast and West Coast. Her education is ongoing, and she holds a certification as an instructor. She is a Stage IFBB Pro, and firsthand experience of competition and editorial glam informs her makeup work. Her work includes fashion shows and photo shoots, and she is a contributing writer for an online health and beauty column with Rx Muscle.

Her hair work centers on dimensional color and balayage, with precision cuts, easy-to-manage cuts and Brazilian blowouts. Her makeup covers photoshoot and special event looks. Her clientele is diverse, and she works with clients from the first appointment through to the finished look.
