Ruben Castro MD

Ruben Castro, MD, is the plastic surgeon at Ruben Castro MD Plastic Surgery in Newport Beach. He holds a medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, San Diego. Before medicine he served as a Navy Hospital Corpsman. He trained through a six-year integrated plastic surgery residency at the Aesthetic & Plastic Surgery Institute at UC Irvine, covering reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, and he now serves there as volunteer clinical faculty. Hospital affiliations include UC Irvine Medical Center and Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach. He completed the Bruce Connell Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship, which concentrates on primary and revision surgery of the face, breast and body; he is an aesthetic fellowship-trained plastic surgeon. During that fellowship he trained with Timothy Marten, MD, in facial rejuvenation and facial anatomy, and with S. Ozan Sozer, MD, in advanced facial and body contouring, including the Glidelift. His practice focus includes facelifts and neck lifts, and he applies the same standard to breast and body procedures. He performs the Glidelift, a hidden-scar deep plane facelift first developed by S. Ozan Sozer, MD. Planning moves from the deeper structures to the surface, and he weighs how a result will shift, settle, heal visually and change over time. In his view, a natural result is not necessarily a subtle one; it should respect each patient's anatomy, proportions, expressions and sense of self.
