Ron Chao, M.D.

Dr. Ron Chao serves as Medical Director and Surgeon at Active Aesthetics, where he works full time on hair transplant surgery. He has practiced surgery since 1996 and has done cosmetic surgery and hair restoration since 2004. He has more than 20 years of specialized hair restoration experience, has performed more than 10,000 successful treatments, and is an award-winning hair transplant surgeon.

He received a BA from the University of California, Berkeley in 1991 and an M.D. from New York Medical College in 1996. From 1996 to 2002 he trained in general surgery at St. Mary's Hospital and Yale University School of Medicine, where he was Chief Resident in General Surgery. He then finished a plastic surgery residency at the University of Texas at San Antonio (2002 to 2003), a cosmetic surgery fellowship with the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (2003 to 2004), and a hair transplant fellowship at Medical Hair Restoration (2004 to 2005). He also studied advanced hair transplantation techniques at a clinic in Beverly Hills, California.

He was Staff Hair Transplant Surgeon at Medical Hair Restoration in Beverly Hills from 2005 to 2006 and has been a Cosmetic and Hair Transplant Surgeon there since 2006. He is board certified in surgery and holds Diplomate status with the American Board of Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, a member of the California Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, and an associate member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery.
