Rita Moorman, MD

Rita Moorman, MD, serves as Director of Anesthesia for the practice, a role she has held since the surgery center opened in 1995. She graduated from LSU Medical School in New Orleans. Afterward she completed an internal medicine internship at Mount Auburn Hospital, followed by an anesthesia residency at Beth Israel Hospital, both in Boston. Before moving to California, she taught anesthesia as an instructor at Harvard Medical School. At Long Beach Community Hospital she spent an extended period as Director of Anesthesia and Chief of Cardiac Anesthesia. She holds board certification from the American Board of Anesthesiology and has also earned a Certificate of Recertification from that board, which she pursued voluntarily. She is ACLS certified. With more than 20 years as an anesthesiologist, she leads anesthesia care at the surgery center.
