About
Ramata "Matou" Diakete owns the salon and braids there. Before opening it, she invested in and sold apparel and imported and exported goods across West Africa. She moved to Philadelphia in 1996 and began braiding at Massango's African Hair Braiding in Germantown.
She started out braiding from her apartment, building her clientele through flyers and word of mouth. She later opened Matou's African Hair Braiding on Chew and Chelten Avenues. Quality work matters most to her, as does the finished look her stylists deliver.
- Approach
- She takes pride in quality work and in the styles her stylists produce.
