About
Rafael Gottenger, MD, has been a plastic surgeon in South Miami since 2004 and has more than 20 years in practice. He holds double board certification, in the USA and in Venezuela. His work covers cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery of the face, breast and body, and he holds medical privileges at major hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers in South Florida.
He completed plastic surgery training at Ohio State University, where he also graduated, after earlier general and plastic surgery training at the Central University of Venezuela. He then took fellowships at EVMS in Virginia in microsurgery and craniofacial surgery. His memberships include the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Greater Miami Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Venezuelan Society of Plastic Surgeons.
His main focus is breast surgery, including augmentation, lift, reduction and reconstruction, among them reconstruction after breast cancer surgery and reconstruction following skin cancer. He also offers Botox and dermal fillers, PRP injections, blepharoplasty, face lift, neck lift, rhinoplasty, otoplasty, liposuction and tummy tuck. He concentrates in particular on body contouring for women through breast and body procedures. Since 2002 he has volunteered with Operation Smile International on more than 50 missions, providing reconstructive surgery for children with facial deformities.
