Philippe Schaedler

Austria is where he first learned hair styling, starting as a teenager and finishing a three-year hairdressing apprenticeship before passing the examination of the Austrian Apprenticeship Board. His cutting and coloring training includes Vidal Sassoon and TONI&GUY methods, and for many years he has taken advanced Toni&Guy Academy classes roughly every few months. He managed a salon in Zurich, Switzerland, for four years. In 1991 he opened a salon in Marina del Rey, which he sold nine years later. He then opened Hair Cafe in Santa Monica and ran it for thirteen years, adding a European-style cafe and a color light-therapy room. Early in his Los Angeles years he spent six months doing hair for TV commercials through a makeup artist contact. He is now a partner at Salon Tosca in West Los Angeles. His work centers on precision cutting, color, highlights and balayage, and he has substantial experience with Japanese hair straightening and advanced smoothing techniques. For about seven years he has made house calls for select clients on the Westside and in nearby areas.
