Pat Davis

Pat trained in cosmetology after finishing high school in San Jose, California, and later obtained a license. The first job was at one of the well-known African-American salons in Oakland, working on commission and building a client base one walk-in at a time. About five years after getting licensed, a shop was opened in downtown Oakland. At First Impression Hair Designs, Pat works as a stylist and has expanded skills in color, braiding, extensions and chemical processes. Ongoing classes and new products keep learning going. Early in the career, full shifts were part of the job whether or not appointments were booked, a habit that shaped the career.
