The owner runs GA LA CAR and works as a Weaveologist. She studied business administration with a minor in journalism in college, then trained at Long Island Beauty School and became a licensed cosmetologist. She received a scholarship to Christine Valmy School for Esthetics and Makeup in New York, where she was certified.

Her earlier work included placements through a temporary employment agency, among them Essence Magazine and the New York Stock Exchange.
