About
Monroe Benaim, M.D. is an ophthalmologist and the owner of Benaim Eye & Aesthetics in Jupiter. He has more than 25 years of experience in ophthalmology and has performed more than 20,000 cataract removal surgeries, over 4,000 lid surgeries and thousands of lens exchange procedures.
He completed undergraduate studies at MIT, earned his medical degree at the University of Miami School of Medicine, and trained in eye surgery at UT Southwestern/Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. He holds board certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology and from the American Board of Eye Surgery, and he was among the first surgeons nationally certified by that board. He is a diplomate of the National Board of Medicine, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a fellow of the American College of Eye Surgeons, where he sits on the board of directors. He was an investigator in the original FDA studies for the excimer laser for LASIK and serves as surgical faculty with ORBIS (Flying Eye Hospital).
His clinical focus includes cataract and refractive lens surgery, lid surgery, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease. He helps patients choose an intraocular lens after weighing their prescription, daily needs and astigmatism, and can perform minor corneal procedures during lens exchange to reduce astigmatism when needed. He often calls cataract patients at home after surgery to check on their progress. He personally oversees every Morpheus8 treatment and adjusts settings to each patient's skin needs.
