About

Michael Ehrenhaus, MD works as a surgeon in cornea, cataract and refractive procedures. Based at the Hollis Hills office, he also treats patients at the SUNY Downstate Eye Center in Flatbush, Brooklyn, and performs eye examinations and advanced eye surgery.

He trained at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, then did his ophthalmology residency at Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers in Queens. A cornea and refractive surgery fellowship at the University of California's Shiley Eye Center in La Jolla, California followed. He holds IntraLasik certification. He has learned from prominent specialists in corneal transplants, LASIK and microsurgical cataract removal, and he worked at SUNY Downstate earlier in his career.

His surgical work includes PKP, DSAEK, ICL, MIGS, CXL and LASIK, plus sutureless cornea transplants, micro-invasive glaucoma implant procedures and bladeless LASIK. Corneal transplants range from routine scheduled operations to emergency and complicated combined cases, and he performs both routine and complex phacoemulsification cataract surgery. He has been part of the care of thousands of refractive surgery patients, has written widely in print, and is asked to speak at local, national and international events. He contributes to research on cornea, cataract and refractive surgery and has several patents pending. The practice describes him as one of only a handful of Northeast surgeons certified in IntraLasik.

Patients arrive from the New York area and abroad, including France, Israel, the Dominican Republic, Yemen and South Africa. Two or three times a year he travels to the Dominican Republic for charity eye missions, typically spending five to seven days per trip and carrying out dozens of surgeries and exams each time. He also trains physicians there.
