About
Matthew Lewis, MD, is a board-certified plastic surgeon practicing in Portland, Oregon. He holds a medical degree from Oregon Health and Sciences University and a master's degree in biophysics and physiology from Georgetown University, and his undergraduate training was a bachelor's in biochemistry from the University of Massachusetts. His training includes an integrated plastic surgery residency followed by a fellowship year devoted to aesthetic surgery at an ASAPS-endorsed program. He is one of 17 plastic surgeons nationwide selected each year for an aesthetic fellowship. He works across breast, body and face surgery and offers the full range of aesthetic procedures, including hair restoration for men and women. His breast work covers augmentation, augmentation combined with a lift, and top surgery for transgender patients: for FTM patients he uses double incision and periareolar techniques, and for MTF patients he places a saline or silicone implant. On the body side he performs high-lateral-tension abdominoplasty, a form of tummy tuck. For hair restoration he performs NeoGraft follicular unit extraction, and he was the first surgeon in Portland to feature the NeoGraft 2.0 machine. He customizes breast augmentation plans to each patient's goals, anatomy and aesthetic concerns, and often recommends submuscular implant placement for a natural contour and long-term support. He turns down operations he judges unlikely to help a patient or meet their expectations, and he gives candid advice about which procedures are needed to reach a patient's goal. He values getting to know patients and building relationships with them over time.
