About

Masa Teraguchi is the owner of Terra Hair Design and also works as a stylist. He began his career in his family's cosmetology business after finishing high school and graduated from cosmetology school in 1989 with a major in haircut instruction.

After school he moved to New York in 1990 to gain business experience, then returned to Japan in 1991 to open his own beauty salon. From 1992 to 1993 he toured Japan as a haircut and salon management instructor. He won the Japan Beauty Culture Award in 1993, shared with Aiko Yamano and Shu Uemura. He started a Japanese hair cutting technique seminar in the U.S. in 2006.

His focus is Japanese hair cutting and his original 3 Way Cut Technique. He has also taught business coaching for stylists, starting Terra Academy business coaching classes in 2007, and taught hair cutting and business coaching seminars at Hoyu Professional USA from 2011 to 2013. He has demonstrated T3 products and styling techniques on stage at hair shows, and served as an on-stage demonstrator for UTSUMI Scissors at a hair show in 2015. Haircuts start at $135 for men and $165 for women, including shampoo and blow dry.
