Mark Schwartz

Mark Schwartz owns NY Dry Cut and works as its senior stylist. He trained at the Wilfred Academy of Hair and Beauty Culture in New York in hairdressing and cosmetology in 1978, then studied for twelve years under John Sahag at the John Sahag Workshop in New York City. He also completed programs at the On Set Motion Picture Hair Academy in Santa Monica, California, the Vidal Sassoon Training Program and the LaCoupe Training Program in New York, and training at Dudley Cosmetology University in Kernersville, North Carolina.

From 1979 to 1983 he was a stylist and instructor at Vidal Sassoon in New York and on Rodeo Drive in California. He later worked as a freelance artist in Milan, Italy, and from 1986 to 1998 provided hairstyling for photo shoots, television and magazines through Elite Model Look in New York. He held senior stylist and education roles at several salons, owned Schwartz Salon in Red Bank, New Jersey, from 2000 to 2017, and worked as a direct retail stylist at Dyson in New York in 2020. He now teaches and works at the John Sahag Workshop.

He has styled hair for runway shows including Oscar de la Renta, Escada and Betsey Johnson, and has worked on fashion shoots and television projects around the world. He has consulted internationally in Italy, Japan, Brazil, France, South Korea and Spain. He specializes in the dry cut, which takes years to learn and rewards a motivated perfectionist in daily work. Cindy Crawford, Jennifer Lopez and Diane Keaton have been clients.
