Mark A. Clymer, MD, FACS, owns and leads Clymer Facial Plastic Surgery in the Nashville area. He works as the solo practitioner, serves as president and holds the Medical Director role. With more than 29 years in facial plastic surgery, he also holds a Clinical Assistant Professor appointment at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and sits on the medical advisory board of a local surgery center.
He earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa, graduating with honors and high distinction, and a medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. His residency was at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, followed by a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Rochester in New York. He is double board certified and a fellow of several surgical societies. The practice describes him as highly regarded for his skill, artistry and commitment to patient safety.
His surgical practice covers cosmetic and reconstructive procedures on the face, nose, eyelids, head and neck. Procedures include rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty, facelifts including the deep plane technique, which he has used for nearly 30 years, and necklifts. He developed a neck contouring technique that is usually combined with platysma tightening. Eyelid and brow rejuvenation, otoplasty and lip procedures are part of his work, and cheek augmentation is done with surgical implants, fat transfer or advanced dermal fillers. On the non-surgical side, he offers BOTOX, Dysport, filler treatments and skin rejuvenation.
He has written journal articles and textbook chapters on facial plastic surgery and has served as guest editor for the journal Facial Plastic Surgery.
