Mari Watase

Mari Watase is a founder and hair stylist at Salon 87 Brooklyn, which she set up with Hiro Watase. She began hairstyling in Japan and later relocated to New York City to build her practice. Early in her international career she worked as first assistant to Luigi Murenu. In 2014 she formed the hair duo Hiro+Mari with Hiro Watase. Across many years she has been a lead hair stylist during fashion weeks in New York, Milan and Paris. Her fashion clients include Gucci, Givenchy, Salvatore Ferragamo, Emilio Pucci and Viktor & Rolf. Her editorial credits include Vogue, Glamour, Harper's Bazaar, Interview, V Magazine, W Magazine, Allure and Elle, and she has worked on campaigns for Yves Saint Laurent, Nike, Google, Kate Spade and Tory Burch.
