Lauren Francis-Jackson

Lauren Francis-Jackson owns the salon and founded Locspiration. She began as a natural hair blogger before becoming a professional stylist, and she teaches every course at Locspiration Academy, which she developed to educate consumers and locticians about locs. Her teaching is aimed at aspiring and new locticians who want to specialize in Microlocs and traditional locs, as well as established stylists.

Her training includes a natural hair care program at the Natural Hair Nstitute in Silver Spring, Maryland, through N Natural Hair Studio, where she learned the basics of starting, maintaining and styling locs. She is a certified loc stylist from the Natural Hair Nstitute. She completed a four-day Sisterlocks Consultant training in Baltimore, Maryland, finished Sisterlocks training in 2014, and is a Certified Sisterlocks Consultant. She also trained in cosmetology at Aveda Institute, beginning in 2021, covering cutting, coloring and styling, skin care, makeup and nail artistry, and graduated in July 2022.

Her focus is locs of all textures, including Sisterlocks, Microlocs, traditional locs and loc color. Her work covers loc theory, loc creation, maintenance and repair, color and styling. She customizes each service to the individual client's hair and offers one-on-one appointments. She has presented at The Naturalista Hair Show and the DC Love Locs Expo, and her work has been featured in Sophisticate's Black Hair. She is a licensed cosmetologist and professional loctician with over 13 years of experience as a loctician, and she has over 11 years of experience in the natural hair industry.
