About
Kristan Sayers owns K Bella Hair Studio & Spa in Brighton, Michigan, which she founded in 2009 after working as a stylist, and she also works as a master stylist there. She has more than 25 years behind the chair and is a Clinically Certified Trichologist, one of Michigan's few. She was named Best Of Livingston County 2021 winner for Best Hair Stylist and was a finalist in that category in 2022. She has also received the Beacon Award, accolades in makeup applications, and a showcase of her work in the nail category at NAHA. The salon describes her as known for cutting and color correction, and she is currently advancing her studies with the United States Trichology Institute.
Much of her practice centers on hair loss. She works with clients losing hair from medical causes such as alopecia, cancer treatment and autoimmune conditions, and she fits custom medical wigs styled to resemble a client's own hair, along with toppers for crown thinning. Trichology consultations start with a close look at the hair and scalp to identify concerns such as hair loss, scalp problems or breakage. From there she builds personalized plans for hair and scalp health and guides clients considering toppers, toupees or wigs. Hair loss consultations are private, and she offers cranial prosthesis fittings.
Her wider work covers all hair types, with specialties in directional haircuts and color correction for fine and thick hair, and she has experience with extremely thin, thick and curly hair. She works with every form of hair extension, wig, topper and hairpiece. She has traveled nationally and internationally as an International Design Artist, teaching advanced up-styling, color and cutting. She founded The Hair Trainer, an education company, runs an apprentice program that takes two apprentices every two years, and co-initiated the Michigan Association of Beauty Professionals in 2017. She serves on the Michigan Board of Cosmetology, reappointed for a term running January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2029, and is working with the MABP advocacy team on a first bill addressing newer services that affect licensed estheticians.
