About
Kimberly Ruel is the owner and color specialist at Live Free Hair Studio, which she founded in 2018. She moved to Austin in 2017 and worked briefly as a stylist there before opening the studio.
She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from NIU and graduated with honors from Pivot Point Academy in 2014. After graduating, she assisted stylists in their apprentice programs before getting her own chair.
Color is her main focus, with training in blonding, darkening and vivid techniques. She also cuts custom styles, including long layered cuts, pixies and clean fades. She builds long-term relationships with clients and considers them part of her community.
