Kien T. Tran, MD, PhD

Kien T. Tran, a dermatologist and dermatopathologist, founded Liberty Dermatology. He received medical training at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, then took specialty training in dermatology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where he also trained in cosmetic dermatology and dermatologic surgery. He holds the position of Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at UT Southwestern, where he teaches medical students and dermatology residents. His clinical work spans general dermatology, skin cancer surgery and cosmetic dermatology, with patients ranging from infants to older adults. He performs skin biopsies on rashes and suspicious lesions and makes diagnoses by examining the tissue under a microscope. Living Magazine readers voted him Best Dermatologist in Rowlett and Rockwall in each year from 2013 through 2022, and he received the Patient's Choice Award in 2013. He was also named in Top Docs 2021. He belongs to the Texas Medical Association and the Texas Dermatologic Society, as well as the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Medical Association and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He has written book chapters and research articles on skin care, skin cancer and wound healing, and has been invited to speak at scientific and medical conferences.
