Katy owns Frisky Mariska and is a licensed nail tech. She earned her nail technician license in early 2022 and began working in nail-art-based salons that year, before moving on to run an independent studio. Before focusing on nail art, she spent many years working in film production, music, and branding, and that background informs her nail art. Her specialty is moodboard-style nail art with a focus on color and on keeping natural nails healthy. Her backstage and on-set work has included clients such as Lainey Wilson, Ashley Graham, Barbara Palvin, and Adut Akech. Brand partnerships include Essie, Belaire, Nailcon, Acrylics Worldwide, Poppi, and Vita Coco, and her commercial credits include national spots for Dunkin', Papa John's x Doritos, and Zaxby's. Her work has been featured in publications including GQ South Africa, Numero, Refinery29, Elle, and Selin. Beyond her own appointments, she mentors nail techs at every level on technique basics and career direction. Coaching covers portfolio building, landing opportunities, and on-set and backstage etiquette, and sessions are customized to each client and held in person or virtually.
