Katie Tellor

Katie Tellor is the owner of Abstra(kt) Studio in Frisco, Texas, where she works as a stylist and educator. She specializes in hair extensions and balayage color, and the salon describes her as one of the first in North Texas to become an expert in both, and as one of the country's top educators in extensions.

Her training started at the Aveda Institute in Minneapolis, which she finished in 2003. She has since taken classes across the country, including in Los Angeles and New York City. Her credentials include L'Oreal Professionnel Balayage Master certification and Brazilian Blowout Master status. Her extension work spans many systems, from Hotheads, Hairtalk, Cinderella Hair, Klix and Lusciouslox to hand-tied methods from several makers, and she completed multiple balayage programs at SOHO NYC Institute and The Business of Balayage.

Beyond her own chair, Katie teaches extensions and balayage. She is an educator for Hotheads, Hairtalk, Klix and Lusciouslox extensions, and a weft expert and educator for Hairtalk Extensions, where she developed the company's newer weft line and its education curriculum. She taught balayage classes for The Business of Balayage, directs and teaches The Business of Extensions, and is lead educator for The Balayage Summit, listed with the American Board of Certified Haircolorists. At Abstra(kt) Academy she is Director of Education and is launching an extension curriculum, and she is currently lead collaborator for House of Collaboration.
