Karan Lal, DO

Karan Lal, DO, is Director of Pediatric Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery at Affiliated Dermatology. He graduated summa cum laude from New York Institute of Technology through a seven-year accelerated combined medical program. He also earned a Master of Science in neuroscience as an academic medical scholar, with a scholarship covering three years of medical school and graduate training. He was elected to the Sigma Sigma Phi and Psi Sigma Alpha medical honor societies. His internal medicine internship was at University of Connecticut Medical Center, where he was named intern of the year, followed by a three-year dermatology residency at University of Massachusetts, where he was chief resident. He then completed a pediatric dermatology fellowship at University of Massachusetts. The practice says he is board-certified in pediatric dermatology and calls him the only board-certified pediatric and fellowship-trained cosmetic dermatologist in the country. His work covers pediatric and adult dermatology, laser surgery, soft tissue filler augmentation and body sculpting. He performs melanocyte keratinocyte transplant surgery for vitiligo and hypopigmentation and treats pigmentary skin conditions in patients from birth onward. An interest in vascular anomalies, pediatric laser and dermatologic surgery in young patients grew out of his fellowship. According to the practice, he is an expert in atopic dermatitis, vitiligo, melasma, psoriasis and hidradenitis. He serves on the DEI work group of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
