About

Julia Kerolus practices as a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon at Kerolus Facial Plastic Surgery in Atlanta, and she focuses exclusively on the face and neck. She is certified by two boards: the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. She earned her medical degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, completed a five-year otolaryngology-head and neck surgery residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and then trained in an advanced facial plastic surgery fellowship in Beverly Hills with Dr. Paul Nassif and Dr. Babak Azizzadeh. Her early career was at the University of Illinois Division of Facial Plastic Surgery, where she led the Facial Nerve Center.

Her caseload includes surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation, facial contouring, facelifts, neck lifts and mini neck lifts, brow lifts, lip lifts, rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty, and otoplasty for children and adults. Revision facial plastic surgery and facial nerve reanimation are areas of particular focus, including facial synkinesis surgery, also known as selective neurolysis, for facial paralysis. The practice describes her as the leading facial synkinesis plastic surgeon in the southeastern United States. She has performed and corrected facelifts. She recommends a mini neck lift when the concern is limited, and moves to a full neck lift when a smaller operation would not be enough. Her injectable planning is based on facial anatomy and produces individualized anti-aging plans.

She lectures residents and trains fellows at Emory University. Her research addresses facial paralysis management, improving the quality of patient care and delivering healthcare worldwide. With Dr. Paul Nassif she co-authored and co-edited a 2019 book on revision facial plastic surgery, and she contributed chapters to Ethnic Rhinoplasty (2018), The Aesthetic Brow and Forehead (2018) and Upper Eyelid Rejuvenation (2019). The website reports that she was named to Atlanta Magazine Top Doctors for 2024, 2025 and 2026, and to the University of Illinois at Chicago's Alumnus of the Year honors in 2024. Her other honors include the Lemel Otology Award, the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award and the Sarah Morrison Research Grant.

She has done overseas outreach. She served on a craniofacial reconstruction team with the Global Smile Foundation in Guayaquil, Ecuador, worked as a telesurgery facilitator at Black Lion Hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and served as a surgical assistant and Spanish interpreter with the Medical Missions Foundation in Antigua, Guatemala. Patients who have had consultations elsewhere, or who are unsure what they need, are welcome at her practice.

Approach
She works from facial anatomy and proportion, examining facial movement, tissue descent, volume, skin quality and scars at consultation, and reviews medications, supplements, blood pressure and anesthesia risks before surgery.
