Joseph M. Perlman, M.D.

Dr. Joseph M. Perlman runs The Advanced Plastic Surgery Centre, where he works as both the owner and the operating plastic surgeon. He took his undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University and his medical degree at Brown University. Residency training came at Baylor College of Medicine: general and vascular surgery first, finished in 1981, then plastic surgery, finished in 1984. He went on to fellowships in microsurgery and hand surgery. He holds certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery, and he has a certificate of added qualifications in hand surgery. His practice is limited to cosmetic surgery, and facelifts are its main focus. He has done more than 600 facelifts in the past 10 years. He has more than 25 years of experience with breast augmentation and has done liposuction on hundreds of men and women across Houston and nearby areas. Over roughly five years he developed a cheek lift method he calls loop suspension. He also treats hand injuries and related conditions. He has held an appointment as an associate clinical professor in plastic surgery at Baylor, and he has consulted for Ben Taub Hospital on hand surgery. He has been the team physician for the U.S.A. Boxing Team since 1980. Other roles include U.S. physician for the 1987 Pan American Games, physician for the 1988 U.S. Olympic Team at the Seoul Summer Games, and medical consultant for Houston's 2012 Olympic bid. He belongs to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Surgeries are performed at Red Oak Surgery Center, TOPS and Houston NW Med Ctr. He has been voted one of Houston's Top Docs numerous times, and colleagues have ranked him among the top three cosmetic breast surgeons. The practice counts him among its specialists in Juvederm and other branded fillers, and he also offers estrogen and testosterone pellet therapy. During consultations he goes over each patient's goals and explains the options for implant type, size, shape and profile. Follow-up care is part of his approach, aimed at long-term patient satisfaction.
