John Q. Cook

Dr. Cook founded Whole Beauty Institute and is its Medical Director. He is board-certified in plastic surgery and holds an appointment as an Attending Plastic Surgeon and faculty member at Rush University Medical Center. He has provided aesthetic plastic surgery in Chicago and Winnetka since 1988, the same year he joined the Rush staff. Early in his practice, much of his work was breast reconstruction at Rush, and he is a former president of the Rush Surgical Society.

His academic path began with an undergraduate degree from Yale University, where he graduated cum laude with departmental honors, followed by a medical degree from Northwestern University, surgical residency at Rush University Medical Center and a plastic surgery fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He also earned a master's degree in surgical research from the University of Illinois and holds certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the Illinois Society of Plastic Surgeons.

His focus areas are facial aesthetic surgery, aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery, and advanced body contour surgery. He is known for arm contour surgery and for the structural breast lift technique, and for patients with notable abdominal looseness he performs a high lateral tension abdominoplasty. For 20 years he has done facial fat transfer as part of facial rejuvenation, across several thousand procedures, and he has more than 20 years of experience with major liposuction and surgical fat reduction. Most face and neck lifts include fat transfer to restore volume that has been lost. Before surgery he carries out a detailed evaluation, often asks patients to bring photographs taken at different times, and studies each person's anatomy so the result builds on the natural form they already have.
