John P. Cole, MD

John P. Cole, MD, founded ForHair and leads the practice from its Alpharetta headquarters. He began practicing hair transplant surgery in 1990 and has practiced hair restoration in Atlanta since then. He also sees patients and performs procedures at the New York clinic. He has worked exclusively in hair restoration for more than thirty years, and he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery.

His training includes a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology, summa cum laude, from Mercer University in 1981, an MD from the Medical College of Georgia in 1985, and an internal medicine residency at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine from 1985 to 1986. He was board certified by the International Board of Hair Restoration Surgery on January 1, 1998, and holds active medical licenses in Georgia, New York, Florida and California.

He is known for the Cole Isolation Technique, which he developed and formalized in 2003, and for No Shave FUE (C2G), an approach he was among the first surgeons globally to offer. He holds seven U.S. patents covering surgical instruments, and filed his first FUE-related patent in 1998. He has taught FUE to other surgeons since 2003, and he has trained surgeons on five continents. His work includes body hair transplantation, hair transplant repair for patients correcting plugs, scarring or unnatural results, scar grafting, and research into platelet-derived and stem cell therapies. He developed Cytokine Rich Plasma (CRP) and the HairCycle shampoo and conditioner line.

Among his recognitions are the 2013 Golden Follicle Award from the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award from FUE Europe, and Italian Society of Hair Restoration Surgery awards. He has also served as an officer and committee member of several hair restoration and regenerative medicine organizations.
