About
John Mesa is a board certified plastic surgeon who practices in New York City, Livingston and Miami and focuses exclusively on facial and neck surgery. He is also a medical author with published books and articles. He has performed thousands of facial procedures over a fourteen-year career in plastic surgery. He holds medical licenses in New York, New Jersey and Florida, and is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of ASPS, ASAPS and ISAPS and communicates in multiple languages. He received EB-1A and National Interest Waiver designations from the US government in 2005, and won the NY Top Doc Award, which is voted on by other doctors in the area.
His training includes an MD from the University of Antioquia School of Medicine, which he completed cum laude, second in his class. He trained at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital, completing a general surgery residency at Brigham and Women's. His plastic surgery residency was at Penn State, followed by a craniofacial surgery fellowship at the University of Michigan and an aesthetic surgery fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham under Dr. Luis O. Vasconez. He also completed a research fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, and he is triple fellowship trained.
His focus is facial contouring, including buccal fat removal, chin liposuction and facelift, along with brow lift, eyelid surgery, neck lift and facial masculinization. He has perfected facial masculinization, and his results aim to look natural, refreshed and youthful. He weighs bone structure, skin quality and each patient's goals before proposing a surgical plan. Many facial procedures are performed at the Livingston office under local anesthesia, with patients fully awake.
