Jill S. Waibel, MD

Jill S. Waibel, MD, owns and directs Miami Dermatology and Laser Institute. A board-certified dermatologist, she treats patients of all ages in medical dermatology, cutaneous laser surgery and cosmetic dermatology, with laser innovation for scar treatment as her main research interest. She holds several hospital and academic posts: Subsection Chief of Dermatology at Baptist Hospital, Medical Director of the Multidisciplinary Skin Cancer Clinic at Miami Cancer Institute, and Clinical Voluntary Assistant Professor at the University of Miami. She sits on the board of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery and on the Medical Advisory Board of five laser manufacturers. She has also agreed to take on the medical director role at Canyon Ranch Resort and Spa. In her practice she has used more than 65 laser devices for medical and cosmetic skin work, and she has taken part in about 50 clinical trials run through Miami Dermatology and Research, covering phase 2, 3 and 4 pharmaceutical and medical device studies. She has represented and advised several companies through FDA approval. She lectures internationally to train physicians, trains military physicians, has published peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters, and founded Restoring Heroes, a multidisciplinary support group that provides medical care to veterans and 9/11 survivors. Her work in dermatologic laser surgery has earned international recognition as a leader in innovation. Honors include a 2015 Person of the Week selection on ABC World News Tonight, the 2017 ASLMS Leadership, Mentorship and Public Advocacy for Women in Medical Science Award, the 2016 JDD Humanitarian Award for laser treatment of traumatic burn injuries, and an Excellence in Medicine award from Surgeon General Koop.
