About
J. Douglas Cusick is a board-certified plastic surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, practicing at the Leawood office. He earned a business administration degree at the University of Kansas before completing a medical degree at Oral Roberts University School of Medicine. His residencies were a general surgery program at Loma Linda University Medical Center and a plastic surgery program at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he has served as a clinical instructor in the plastic surgery department since 1992. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
His practice centers on breast, body and facial cosmetic surgery. He has performed facial plastic surgery for many years and uses endoscopic techniques when a procedure calls for them. For decades he has offered liposuction and other procedures, and with each patient he compares the liposuction variations to select the approach that suits the treatment area. He keeps current through continuing medical education, including patient safety standards and newer methods.
He previously served as president and treasurer of the Kansas City Plastic Surgery Society and sat on the board and finance committee of Saint Joseph Health Center. He has taken part in more than 40 medical missions abroad, where he performs reconstructive surgery on children and trains local surgeons. He is a founding member of the Medical Mission Foundation, where he was once a board member and now serves on the board of advisors.
