Iyana Thomas founded I AM Loc Shop. Her career began as a professional braider in Federal Way, Washington. She has been a full-time natural hair stylist since January 5, 2005, the year she established her business.
She trained at BJ's Beauty & Barber College, where she was selected to represent the school as its natural stylist in the Reign of Style hair show competition. She holds a cosmetology license and an Instructor's license.
She is an active board member of the Washington State Board of Cosmetology and serves as the board representative for Hair Design in Washington state. She also works as a guest speaker for cosmetology schools.
