Heather Hughes

Heather Hughes is a psychiatric nurse practitioner and the founder of Optimum Health & Wellness, where she leads the clinical team. She began her career as an emergency room nurse, spending 12 years in emergency nursing and much of that time supervising the ER's psychiatric pod. She has practiced as a nurse practitioner since 2015, with experience across psychiatry, primary care, urgent care, medical weight loss, and medical aesthetics.

Her training includes an Associate in Nursing in 2006, a Master's in Nursing from Florida Southern College, and a doctorate in nursing from the University of North Florida. She completed a year-long fellowship in functional and integrative psychiatry and holds advanced certification in that area. She is board certified as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and certified as an Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP-BC), and she is an active member of the American Psychiatric Association.

She leads ADHD testing cases at the Land O' Lakes office and weighs sleep, hormones, and lab work alongside reported symptoms.
