About
Gregory A. Turowski, MD, Ph.D., FACS, practices as a plastic surgeon at New Horizons Center for Cosmetic Surgery in Skokie, Illinois, which he founded together with the center's medical spa. His practice spans plastic and cosmetic surgery of the face and body, and he performs breast reduction. He has a particular focus on reconstructive breast procedures for congenital breast anomalies and for patients who have had a mastectomy. He prefers minimally invasive, low-scarring endoscopic methods and concentrates on minimally invasive hair restoration.
He completed general surgery training in a Connecticut program affiliated with St. Mary's Hospital and the Yale Medical School. He then finished a plastic surgery residency, including a chief residency, in the Harvard Medical School program. His plastic surgery training was carried out at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston Children's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, and while he was in Boston he served on the Harvard Medical School teaching faculty. He later completed a post-graduate research fellowship at Yale and also earned a doctorate in surgery (Ph.D.). He has been board certified in plastic surgery by The American Board of Plastic Surgery since 1999, and he was recertified by that board in 2009 and 2019. He is also board certified by The American Board of Surgery. He reports more than eight years of clinical training, during which he performed several thousand surgeries.
He is a fellow of the International Society for Hair Restoration Surgery, the American College of Surgeons and the American Hair Loss Association. He is also a member of the International Alliance of Hair Restoration Surgeons, which admits surgeons by invitation only, as well as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Chicago Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He has written many articles and gives lectures on plastic surgery and wound healing, and he has received awards for that work. He lectures often and has taken part in TV and radio interviews, and he appeared in a TLC series demonstrating breast augmentation. Some of his operations have been recorded for teaching purposes.
According to the business, peers selected him for Castle Connolly's Top Doctors Chicago Metropolitan Area guide for several years in a row. The business also lists him as a Chicago Magazine and Castle Connolly Top Doctor, and as featured in America's Top Surgeons by the American Registry.
