Gerald Wu

Gerald Wu is a plastic surgeon in fellowship training at NassifMD Plastic Surgery, working under Dr. Paul Nassif. He focuses on aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and body, with particular interest in rhinoplasty and facial rejuvenation, and he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Before medicine, he completed his undergraduate degree summa cum laude at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He then earned his Doctor of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine on a merit scholarship, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and received the Dr. and Mrs. John N. Pittman Surgery Award from the Department of Surgery. His integrated plastic and reconstructive surgery residency, also at Indiana University, covered aesthetic surgery of the face and body, microsurgery, hand surgery, craniofacial surgery, and reconstruction after burns, cancer and trauma. During residency he spent a month abroad on a global health elective with the AMPATH program in Eldoret, Kenya, treating patients with cleft deformities, burn injuries and facial trauma. He has authored peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, with work appearing in the Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery, the Journal of Hand Surgery, the Journal of Brachial Plexus and Peripheral Nerve Injury, and the FASEB Journal. He has also contributed chapters to surgical textbooks on facial paralysis and pediatric hand surgery.
