About

Gary Domasin's hairstyling work at Salon Aguayo in Pasadena centers on cutting, coloring and blow drying. He has also worked as a hair and makeup artist in New York and Los Angeles since 2005. On the stage, he was hair and makeup supervisor for national tours of Happy Days: The Musical, Dreamgirls and Camelot, and he worked on Broadway in The King & I. His film credit includes the 2008 horror movie Splinter. His clients in hair and makeup have included Carol Channing, Joan Rivers, Christopher Lloyd, John Goodman, Michael York and Lou Diamond Phillips.

He has taught at the USC School of Dramatic Arts as an adjunct lecturer since spring 2016, where his courses include Dramatic Arts 222, Stage Makeup. He also taught for eight years at Broadway Dance Center. In class, he has students work out a character's backstory from the character itself, and he teaches that believable horror makeup depends on having a clear reason for every cut, laceration and bruise.

He has been a member of A.E.A. and S.A.G. since 1983, and of I.A.T.S.E. since 2005. With haircut clients, he takes time to talk through the cut before he starts.
