Emily Akers

Emily Akers owns Emphasized Beauty, where she works as a stylist. She is a licensed cosmetologist in Columbia, Maryland, and she specializes in custom color, glitterlites, haircutting and hair additives. She began in the beauty industry as a shampoo tech while still in high school, then worked in salons and learned from mentors and peers before opening her own studio in 2021.

She trained at The Temple: A Paul Mitchell Partner School and at The Academy of Makeup, and she holds a makeup artist certification from the Academy. She has been taking a break from wedding makeup contracts and hopes to return to them. She keeps up with current beauty trends and techniques as part of her ongoing learning.
