About
Dr. Yael Halaas is a facial plastic surgeon who practices in New York City and holds certification from two boards: the American Board of Otolaryngology and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She earned her medical degree at Cornell University and graduated in 1996 in the top ten percent of her class. Before medicine, she studied art history as an undergraduate at Columbia University. Her training includes a general surgery internship and an otolaryngology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, followed by advanced fellowship training through the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Halaas is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she teaches residents and gives lectures to surgeons on injectable fillers, rhinoplasty and facial rejuvenation. She has trained thousands of physicians in surgical and non-surgical methods, including lasers, injectables, rhinoplasty and hair restoration, and has taught fellow surgeons to use the NeoGraft device. She acts as a key opinion leader and international speaker for aesthetic brands and works as a clinical investigator on aesthetic treatments, including several FDA trials. She is also an operating room inspector for the AAAASF. Her research includes co-authored work on hair restoration and energy-based devices, including Advances in Hair Restoration (2021). She has been featured in Vogue, The New York Times, Telemundo and Good Morning America, and the American Medical Women's Association recognized her for ranking in the top five percent of her peers.
Her surgical experience includes more than 1,500 facelifts, about 1,000 of them performed with the Local Lift technique. She handles all areas of facial plastic surgery at her accredited facility and can refine results from procedures done elsewhere. She serves as NYC Director of the R.O.S.E. Fund and sits on the board of Reconstructing Hope. She speaks English and Spanish fluently and has conversational Hebrew.
