About
Dr. William Numa owns his practice in Massachusetts and works as a facial plastic surgeon. He holds MD and FACS credentials and is double board certified: by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and as a diplomate of the American Academy of Head and Neck Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and of the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, and a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. With almost 20 years of experience, he has been in private practice in Massachusetts since July 2008.
He earned a medical degree at Universidad Javeriana School of Medicine between 1992 and 1998. Surgery internships followed at Mount Sinai Medical Center (2000 to 2001) and Tufts Medical Center (2001 to 2002), then a head and neck surgery residency at Tufts Medical Center (2001 to 2006) and a facial plastics and reconstructive surgery fellowship at Tulane University and Hedgewood Surgical Center (2007 to 2008).
His practice offers surgical and non-surgical care for the eyes, face, neck, nose, lips and ears, with aesthetic facial plastic surgery and skin care as a sub-specialty. He performs rhinoplasty and operations to refresh the aging face, neck and eyes. His rhinoplasty work includes Asian and Middle Eastern styles adapted to each patient's anatomy and background, female rhinoplasty, revision for patients unhappy with an earlier nose job, and liquid rhinoplasty. He also performs facelifts and eyelid surgery, and at consultation can advise whether to combine eyelid surgery with a facelift or add another facial procedure to a rhinoplasty.
He holds associate staff positions at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Tufts Medical Center and Winchester Hospital, and courtesy staff status at Boston Center for Plastic Surgery. He has been a clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School since October 2009. He teaches residents at Tufts University and Boston University Medical School and often lectures on cosmetic facial plastic surgery. He co-edited the textbook Master Techniques in Rhinoplasty and has written a number of articles and book chapters on cosmetic facial plastic surgery. He received the Collin Karmody Resident Achievement Award. He was recognized as a 2024 Castle Connolly Top Doctor in Boston and a 2026 Boston Magazine Top Doctor in facial plastic surgery and otolaryngology. He has seen hundreds of before-and-after transformations and speaks English and Spanish.
