Dr. Sylvie Epelbaum

Dr. Sylvie Epelbaum practices dermatology in midtown Manhattan, where she has worked since 1988. She holds the title of Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital, a role she has filled since the same year, and has also held a professorship at Columbia University.

Her medical education in Paris included a general practice internship from 1980 to 1981 and the Université de Médecine de Paris diploma in 1983. She then pursued advanced work in dermatology and venereology, writing a thesis on Fox-Fordyce disease, and held dermatology residencies at Hospital St Louis and Polyclinic La Roseraie. From 1984 to 1985 she carried out dermatology research at Columbia University, and from 1985 to 1988 she completed a dermatology residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center.

Her clinical interests cover acne, warts, rashes and moles, genital skin conditions, cutaneous T cell lymphoma, skin cancer, age prevention and cosmetic evaluation. Services include skin surgery, acne surgery, sclerotherapy for varicose veins, and treatment of conditions affecting the skin, hair and nails. She sees both children and adults and offers cosmetic evaluations tailored to each patient. She also gives public talks on dermatology subjects and runs skin cancer screenings for medical students, residents, school students and private companies, and takes part in melanoma screenings with the American Academy of Dermatology.

She speaks English, French and Spanish. Her memberships include the American Academy of Dermatology, the New York County Medical Society, the Greater New York Dermatology Society and the American Medical Association.
